To My Readers—Past, Present and Future

The R’lyeh Tribune is now just over 6 months old—still quite young for a blog—and features over 150 articles about weird fiction and related topics.  Most of the posts to date pertain to H.P. Lovecraft, who is the inspiration for this site.  However, considerable attention has also been given to several of his contemporaries.  The focus will remain on early 20^th Century horror, science fiction and fantasy literature.

As my study of weird fiction continues, I hope to include several other authors in the future.  I am certainly open to your recommendations.

2.  Earlier in the year I produced three timelines in an attempt to put the work of Lovecraft and his contemporaries in historical context.  The timelines are now consolidated into a single table—see the ‘History’ page.  The plan is to update and correct this material as additional information becomes available.  Appreciation of this literature—any literature, really—is enhanced by understanding something of the context and time period in which it appeared.

3.  I am toying with the idea of monetizing the site, perhaps after the holidays.  A friend of mine has just earned 11.90¢ for three month’s work on his blog.  In a spirit of friendly competition I would like to see if I can do just a little bit better.  I am also inspired by Samuel Johnson’s famous words:  “No man but a blockhead ever wrote, except for money.”  I welcome input from readers on this next step.
